Xylitol Boosts Dental Health

I bought this gum last week.
I was in the dental office two weeks ago. Meanwhile I was there, I saw a big poster explaining the benefit of consuming gum that contains xylitol. It wasn't the first time I saw it. I also tried to find a gum product that contains xylitol but I didn't like it. Last week when I went to a grocery store seeing this gum, Trident, for clearance. As I read the front package that mentioned it contained xylitol, I didn't think twice, just grabbed it. When I tried it, I really like it. I like its flavor.

So what is xylitol? According to the poster I read, xylitol can starve the harmdul bacteria in our mouth, reducing plaque buildup and tooth decay. This can help prevent dental cavities and inflammatory diseases.

According to Healthline, xylitol has other benefits rather than just for our mouth/teeth:

Xylitol may increase collagen production and reduce your risk of osteoporosis. It also feeds the friendly bacteria in your gut.
Xylitol-sweetened gum can reduce ear infections in children and combat candida yeast infections.
Unlike sugar, xylitol has negligible effects on blood sugar and insulin levels. Animal studies indicate impressive benefits for metabolic health.(*)
