Being Finalist of 50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading

What a wonderful news I got! As the one of the authors who has ever been interviewed by The Authors Show, last month I was selected as a candidate to take part in the final selection for their Top 50 featured authors as they are going to publish soon this year the second edition of THE AUTHORS SHOW’s “50 Outstanding Writers You Should Be Reading”. The selection was by invitation only, and there was no cost associated with being a featured author in the printed version of the book. Because of how busy I was, two days before the selection ended, I sent my entry form online, including my essay that I wrote and edited it around an hour and a half (total two hours with submitting the form).

In this second year of their contest, 113 finalists were selected from the pool of guests who have been interviewed in 2011 on The Authors Show, The Business Authors Show, The Children Authors Show, The Christian Authors Show, The Wellness Authors Show and on AuthorsWebTV.com, the TV version of the show, and my essay is one of the finalists. To see the complete list of finalists, please visit The Authors Show 2011 Contest.

Then from October 1 through October 8, the public will have the chance to vote for their favorite authors from 113 finalists. The top 50 authors selected by the public will win a spot in 50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading. I hope this news will be as a preparation for all of you who would love to participate and support me. I will update this news when they have opened the public voting next month. You will be able to read my essay and vote me.

This is also a good news for all my fellow Bloggers, especially if they are as the Entrecard's members. I'm going to give hundreds and/or thousands of ECs free to them who vote and republish my post regarding that announcement. Please, stay tuned for upcoming post and thank you for your time to read this exciting news. I hope my future supporters from family, friends, bloggers and non bloggers will be excited in waiting for this event. (*)

Welcome My Special Guest

Today My Blog gets a special visit. BEAR-iuca from Mariuca's Perfume Gallery who is bringing his spirit, and now he is having fun to visit Mariuca's friends around the world.

I also would love to bring BEAR-iuca visiting my daughter's Blog. I hope he will have fun there playing around with all the Mermaid's stuff.

START COPYING HERE-

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there lived a powerful Genie Princess named Mariuca who was known throughout the land as the friendliest, most popular blogger in the blogosphere kingdom. Adored and admired by international visitors and commentators from around the world, the Genie Princess travels the blogosphere on her magical flying carpet, always looking for ways to share her good fortune with others.

Over the past two years of blogging, Mariuca has met so many new people, from all walks of life and all over the world, each one bringing a little of their culture and lifestyle when they visit and comment on Mariuca's two sites. So on her 2nd Blog Anniversary, Mariuca wanted to celebrate with all of her international blogosphere buddies by hosting a bear-naming contests at Wishing On A Falling Star and Mariuca's Perfume Gallery and to pass her two lucky, cuddly teddy bears along to the winners who came up with the best names.

On the opposite side of the world, from the moment Roxy (the prolific Roxiticus Desperate Housewives blogger) and her sweet daughters London and Maddie saw the teddy in his personalized t-shirt and blue muffler at Wishing On A Falling Star, they knew that he needed to come to live with their family in Mendham, NJ. The three New Jersey girls named him immediately and burst into a wonderful song for BEAR-iuca:

BEAR-iuca, BEAR-iuca, amazing teddy cheer.
BEAR-iuca, BEAR-iuca, we'd love you to come live here!

Mariuca received 16 possible names for the Mariuca Teddy Bear, making it hard for the Genie Princess to choose just one…then Alakazam! A bolt of lightning delivered the perfect way to share BEAR-iuca's good fortune to bloggers around the globe. While the soft, stuffed, cuddly BEAR-iuca is on his way to live with Roxy, London, Maddie and Rex in the Roxiticus Valley, the Spirit of BEAR-iuca is racing through the blogosphere to bring happiness, holiday cheer, and beary best wishes to everyone who welcomes him into their online home and passes along the BEAR-iuca good luck charm to ten friends.

Please play along with us by following a few important rules:

1. Add your site(s) to the list once you have received the Spirit of BEAR-iuca badge of teddy bear cheer.
2. Pass along the Spirit of BEAR-iuca and his cheery badge to as many people as you like.
3. Leave a comment HERE once you've passed on the Spirit of BEAR-iuca.
4. Once Roxy and the Genie Princess have visited your site to make sure your links are complete and proper, you will then be added to the Master List.
4. To ensure everyone receives equal link benefit, please UPDATE your list regularly!

At the same time I'm also interested to join MPG Teddy Bear Contest that is holding by MPG.

Several reasons why I would love to bring this special un-named Bear, because I really want her to have a special and best name that is given special from me, so I can bring her home and she can be mine forever and ever as a representative of the friendship symbol between Mariuca and Fida Abbott. Well, I can not wait to hug her and show everybody here how cute she is.

And now, I think the best name I would like to give her is Pinca Bear. Pinca comes from 2 words, Pinky and Mariuca. Pinky is because she has the pink color and Mariuca is because it has its mark on her white T-shirt, showed the original of the owner's name. So, I think I have had a perfect name for her already, PINCA BEAR.

The Winner is...

I can not wait to announce the best contestant of my event. Actually I could do it last week but I could not arrange my busy days to post this news here. Now I have time to post it.

There were 4 contestants:

First contestant: Vivie from Germany. Reading her ' My Story', it reminded me about my own story. It wasn't easy to adapt every new things I had at the new place/country that we never visited or lived there before. The support from husband and other family/friends were the best thing I really needed. Vivie, you are a great telling story person. Although you had been many weeks were absent from writing but I saw your great effort and excitement to share your story was really appreciated and impressed.

Second Contestant: Maria Coleman, Texas-USA. Her 'Working in USA' was written well in English. She is good in writing and I am so proud of her for being such great employee at the place where she works right now that is full with competition to be the best from the best. Congratulations, Maria!

Third Contestant: Nancy Dinar, South Korea. 'Hidupku di Korea' (My Life in Korea) was very well written in Indonesian. I felt inside of her writing when I read it. I think she might be good becoming a novelist if she wants to. Nancy, it was a sweet and beautiful writing you ever wrote. I saw your talent in appreciating your thought and your feeling in your writing. Well done, Nancy.

Fourth Contestant: Christina Hann, Germany. She wrote her great adventures life as an expatriate in three countries she ever lives, titled 'Taipei-Hongkong-Aachen'. It was so fun reading her story that was written in English. From her writing, I think she is absolutely a fun adventured Lady with her happy life.

So,....who is the winner of Fida Abbott's Giveaway of the Year-2008????

The best contestant should has everything in writing skill. If she writes in English, she should know how to write in English well including tenses and grammar, and if she writes in Indonesian, she also knows how to write in Indonesian well including in using EYD, grammar, etc. Beside those factors, the most important thing is the content of the writing. It is not only good story she writes but more than that how the story/the writing will influence the readers, giving the special impression or not. Good doesn't mean impressed. Many people can write the good things in good writing but they can not write them to make them interesting. This is its point, this is an art in writing skill. The success writer knows how to write something interesting beside choosing the interesting title. They can write about a simple thing and make it very interesting!!!

Are you ready??? ...
The best contestant is from South Korea, NANCY DINAR !!!!

Congratulations for Nancy and congratulations also to other 3 contestants, Vivie, Maria, and Christina. All of you have made great entries but I have to pick the best one.

I hope this event can give the stimulation for all of us to keep writing and writing, better and better. Just keep writing, and never give up to practice. Be yourself!!! Everybody is unique in appreciating the thoughts in writings.

Below is two pictures I took 2 days ago. I had been busy in wrapping all those gifts. Everything is just simple and special from me and ready to be sent. I have gotten all the addresses already except from Nancy Dinar and Bintang. Please, send me an email and inform your complete address including your ZIP Code.

The special gift will not be told here because I want to give a surprise to all of the contestants and supporters but you can see a little bit above the assorted gifts I will send. Remember: All the contestants will be in my next drawing contest to get my one of printed book. For the supporters, please, don't be sad! You can be in this drawing with only to do one thing: after you receive my packet via post, write in your Blog with a topic 'what do you think about my recent event' (that's all). The Entry should be posted before February 2009. The link should be sent to me after posting and have to be on the top posting in your Blog for at least 3 days, so hopefully the visitors at your Blog can feel the joy of your sharing too.

Finally, to all of my supporters and contestants, I would like to thank you for every great effort and support to bring my event wonderfully and successfully, and to them who will celebrate Thanksgiving on this Thursday, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

GIVEAWAY OF THE YEAR: Being An Expatriate

Having fun in my first snow, December 2002

Being an Expatriate who lives in USA was never in my desire. But that was a life that we never knew what was happened in our future life especially if we talked about our soulmate.

Having many friends from abroad were always excited. Many new things I could learn from them, but having a serious relationship with someone from different country was more excited and the most challenging.

After many things to do to apply the fiancee visa, from many immunitations that took around one year, medical check up and interview, I was sure my fiancee was the one person who would be my husband soon.

I felt my tears when the airplane took off from Surabaya Airport, Juanda. At that time I realized that I would be so far with my family and my best friends. But I had one giant faith, that HE would never leave me alone. If He gave him to me to be my future husband, then I would never has a doubt at all to give my whole life in His hands to live and share my life with my soulmate.

When the first time I stepped my feet on USA earth, I knew there were many challenges I would face. I had been ready since I started knowing that my fiance (my husband) told me that he had sent all the fiance visa application to INS in USA and had been approved and they sent them to USA Embassy in Jakarta.

What the first impression I had at my arrival was the rule how to get on the line when I had to report at the non US citizen arrival centre and should to meet an INS officer to give a big envelope of my private information from USA Embassy in Jakarta to her. I felt really nervous but everything was just fine.

The second impression was the weather. Although at that time was in August (summer) but it was still chilly for me when the evening came.

On the 3rd month of my arrival, exactly on October 5th, 2002 we had simple wedding ceremony at our apartement and just some close friends and members of family attended. There were no family and friends from my site. I wish someday if God permits I will have a special traditional wedding ceremony in Indonesia. The special thing from our wedding was most of the food for our wedding celebration was the food that I cooked myself. Everybody loved them. Batik was our theme for our wedding dresses although I had prepared a special modern-traditional wedding gown for myself that I brought from Indonesia. Sonny Raji was my designer I put my trust on to design my wedding gown. It was so beautiful. One day I'm sure I'll wear it in our second vote in front of the the Priest as God representative on the earth.

Enjoying in playing on the snow was my 3rd impression. One thing I ever remembered, every Christmas came in Indonesia, I heard or I sang 'I am dreaming of a white Christmas' was trully happened. What a funny things I heard from my husband. He asked, "How can Indonesians sing that song while they never have snow in their country?" I replied him, "White Christmas means white snow from their heart." (he, he....just a joke).

What is other impressions things?? Many. From the kind of food they eat, the way how they pay the bills, the body posture they have are much bigger, taller and fatter than mine. That is why most of the people think I am still a tenager. I think because of how much younger I look, slim and small body I have.

Being an Expatriate for more than 6 years in USA till right now, I still learn many new things. Life is learning for me, so I will never stop to learn many things in the new earth I live. I enjoy every different stuff I face, like and dislike. My life is so colorful, that is why there are many different and opposite things I always face and experience.

Being an Expatriate in a super power country can be a great challenging in my whole life. Am I happy? Yes, because I am with my lovely family. Am I Sad? Yes, because I am in the thousands miles away from my family and my best friends. Do I enjoy my life? Yes, everything I do, I always enjoy it. Life is to be enjoyed, bad or good, sad or happy, like or dislike.

Top 15 Personal Blogs Finalist in CIBFest 2008

Today after I searched some book publishing companies in USA for my first book I would like to write soon, I visited CIBFest 2008 site to see what is going on there. The first click, I read about the Top Ten Favorite Blogs and I wasn't there, also X-Written, a Group Blog that I support to. But I was in the Top 100 Favorite Blogs. I wasn't sad. It was just favorite. Everybody, every reader, every Blogger, etc has the right and taste to choose their favorite Blog. So this category doesn't influence me.

The second click was the Finalist of each category. You believe or not, I was so sad that X-Written wasn't in the list. With unmood feeling, I moved my mouse down then I read the list of Top 15 Personal Blogs, my eyes caught my name there. Gosh!!!!......Was it true??? I read and read again, ...yes I wasn't wrong. Here, Guys ....below I enclose Top 15 Personal Blogs Finalist at Christian Indonesia Blog Festival 2008:

Do you know how I feel? Even I don't know how I feel, but I can show how I feel with posting this news here although I was sad that X-Written isn't in the Top 10 Group Blogs Finalist.

By the way, I would like to thank to every person who has worked hard behind the CIBFest 2008 scene. Won or not, my Blog is always my dream Blog becoming a great blessing to every visitor/reader. Since the first time I did blogging, I had the vision to be God's voice in every way I write, I think, and I act. I use English as a single language to write at my Blogs because I live in USA (so my American family and friends can read all the contents of my Blog) and I would like to improve my English in writing. From the beginner Blogger who didn't know anything about Blogosphere world with many kinds of unique adds, third supported parties, banner links, etc till right now you can see how I have done with my limited knowledges that I have learned by myself. I am a good learner and I want to learn and learn something new. I have learned myself how improves my Blogs, here and there. There is no special book to guide me to be a great Blogger (although I don't claim that I am a great Blogger). If you see many advertisement adds, I just want to learn many things from them. I never make money from them. Especially for google that I should give the information of my Social Security number as main condition to get paid. No Way!!! Many Indonesian Bloggers pursue it because they don't need to give their SS numbers that of course they don't have it.

So what I wish to my Blog, is becoming a Blessing Blog to every reader. It contents the spritual messages that can give them encouragement in their life to be close with the CREATOR, it gives the inspirational messages that can make them learn something for their life.

This time I also would like to thank to every friend who has been so loyal either as a reader, a comentator or just a visitor. Without all of you guys, my Blog is nothing. I also would like to thank to my husband who has supported me in every way for my cyber activities, either as a Blogger, writer and my commitment to participate in building www.kabarindonesia.com as Managing Editor there. I know my time is limited, and through the limited time I have, I want to use it maximally to be useful to the others.

Before I end this post, I would like to thank to Devita who has been the most supportive Blogger I ever know. Every single of my post is never absent with her comments. Devita, thank you for your special attention for my Blogs, here and there.

She also gave me a special TAG as you see below and I would like to forward this special TAG to all of my Blogger Friends I enclose on the down right of this Blog. Thank you all!! Thank you!!

Rules :

• Save the image above to be forwarded;
• Choose several person ;
• Give the reason why do you choose those person

Once again, I choose all of my Blogger Friends who have been listed in my Blogroll at the down right side of this Blog. I choose them because they are my friends in Blogosphere world. They are very important part of my cyber world.

CONGRATULATION to all of YOU!!!!

Dear Jennie

I have received all of your gifts as the Winners for E-Book Review Contest. The last gifts I have received savely from Indonesia. Thank you for all.

I like participating in your contests. It is always fun!!!
The next contest you are holding now at your blog www.jennieforindonesia.com with the theme 'Why I'm so special?', it looks interesting to me. I just needs couple tens minutes to finish writing it. You can check here to read it. I hope this posting may be blessing to everyone and also I hope you like it.

Win or not, it doesn't matter for me. It is not my goal but the most important thing is I have spread my thoughts and I wish they can be blessing to every reader. But if you think this posting deserves to be in the list of the Winners, I would thank you and appreciate it.

I hope you will enjoy reading my recent posting there.

Have great day and GBU !!!!
