Are You A Success Person???

In my last posting I mentioned a word of 'success'. What does 'success' mean to you?? I think before we talk about this interesting word, we should know about its definition.

Several resources I got, they said that 'success' is:

1. Success means different things to different people. For some, monetary reward is a measure of success. Yet others have multiple definition of success.

a. The Different Areas

They measure it across a few areas. It can be career, health, spiritual, emotional, time or financial. As an example, one can be successful in one’s career but not emotionally. Of course, this list isn’t exhaustive - so you can add areas that are relevant to you.

To find your own definition of success you need to dig deep within yourself and question your values in life. What are your strengths and weaknesses? What are the things that are important to you? By answering these questions you can then come closer to your own definition of success.
Be aware that this can be a long process. You may not get the answers so quickly. But it is alright. Define your measure of success, one at a time.

b. It is A Journey

When defining your success, remember this important thing. Success is a journey. It has multiple peaks and not one ultimate pinnacle. One success builds on another. Setbacks and mistake will also help you build success. At different periods of your life, success is defined differently. (csfn)

2. Success is a mindset (Jennie S. Bev)

Two of those resources above are enough for me to define 'success', and brafely I will say that I am a success person because I am healthy, have a happy life with my own family although I am just a simple person who becomes a lovely wife for my husband, a lovely mother for my children, a good person to be a friend to my friends, a good and loyal associate at my work, a responsible and loyal person in doing the activities that I like to do them, and as an inspirational person to the readers who they might think I am as their inspirational person to them (thank you), although I don't have millions dollars at my bank account, I drive my own car, 1997 Oldsmobile (silver sedan) that I bought with my own money after 1 year working and put away 20% of every paycheck I got, living in a cute and small house with almost a half acre land, feeling free to express everything through my writings, feeling happy in doing a lot of things that I like to do, and exciting in doing several things in order to reach several achivements in the future.

Success is not a happiness, but a happiness in doing and having something that I do and enjoy, it will bring me to be a success person. (Fida Abbott)

You might have a giant house or have millions dollars in your bank account, a good career, as a famous person/artist, going to vacation every year to another country, or driving an excellent car, but if you have problems with your health, have unhappy family or you feel unhappy by yourself, feeling not safe, feeling nobody loves you and maybe they love you because of a certain purpose; do you think you still consider yourself as a success person?? I don't think so.

If you think you are a success person, I encourage you to write in your Blog, why you consider yourself as a success person. Let me know if you have done, so we will together celebrate our successful world!!!!

Obama's Letter to His Daughters

When I read Obama's letter to his daughters this morning at here, it reminded me when I was a little child. My father was in the Navy and went around the world. He took study to Netherlands twice. He visited many countries and every country he went and had a chance to write a letter for me and my brother, He would do it. I collected all those letters from Australia, Europe countries, Africa, Middle East, and other Asia countries, especially the stamps (except America, he hadn't gone to US, now his daughter (me) lives in US, he, he...).

I read and read again his letters. As a child who got a letter from her father who was far away and seldom to meet him, was very touchable. He wrote some advices for us to study hard so we could be great persons like we wanted someday and be like him or more than him, etc. One thing I always remember that he called me, My daughter, a sweet girl, and called my brother, My Son, a black and sweet son. Yes, we both have different skin colors. I am like my Mom's skin, light, and my brother is like my father's skin (dark brown).

Everytime I read that part to my brother, he laughed. It is a pity I don't have all those letters and stamps anymore. I don't know where they are but I still remember at that time I tried to collect all of them. Although I don't have them anymore right now, but most of the advices, encourages he gave, have patterned in my mind. He is the one who has inspired me to be a successful person!!!!

Thank you, Dad!!!!

Dear Malia and Sasha,

I know that you’ve both had a lot of fun these last two years on the campaign trail, going to picnics and parades and state fairs, eating all sorts of junk food your mother and I probably shouldn’t have let you have. But I also know that it hasn’t always been easy for you and Mom, and that as excited as you both are about that new puppy, it doesn’t make up for all the time we’ve been apart. I know how much I’ve missed these past two years, and today I want to tell you a little more about why I decided to take our family on this journey.

When I was a young man, I thought life was all about me—about how I’d make my way in the world, become successful, and get the things I want. But then the two of you came into my world with all your curiosity and mischief and those smiles that never fail to fill my heart and light up my day. And suddenly, all my big plans for myself didn’t seem so important anymore. I soon found that the greatest joy in my life was the joy I saw in yours. And I realized that my own life wouldn’t count for much unless I was able to ensure that you had every opportunity for happiness and fulfillment in yours. In the end, girls, that’s why I ran for President: because of what I want for you and for every child in this nation.

I want all our children to go to schools worthy of their potential—schools that challenge them, inspire them, and instill in them a sense of wonder about the world around them. I want them to have the chance to go to college—even if their parents aren’t rich. And I want them to get good jobs: jobs that pay well and give them benefits like health care, jobs that let them spend time with their own kids and retire with dignity.

I want us to push the boundaries of discovery so that you’ll live to see new technologies and inventions that improve our lives and make our planet cleaner and safer. And I want us to push our own human boundaries to reach beyond the divides of race and region, gender and religion that keep us from seeing the best in each other.

Sometimes we have to send our young men and women into war and other dangerous situations to protect our country—but when we do, I want to make sure that it is only for a very good reason, that we try our best to settle our differences with others peacefully, and that we do everything possible to keep our servicemen and women safe. And I want every child to understand that the blessings these brave Americans fight for are not free—that with the great privilege of being a citizen of this nation comes great responsibility.

That was the lesson your grandmother tried to teach me when I was your age, reading me the opening lines of the Declaration of Independence and telling me about the men and women who marched for equality because they believed those words put to paper two centuries ago should mean something.

She helped me understand that America is great not because it is perfect but because it can always be made better—and that the unfinished work of perfecting our union falls to each of us. It’s a charge we pass on to our children, coming closer with each new generation to what we know America should be.

I hope both of you will take up that work, righting the wrongs that you see and working to give others the chances you’ve had. Not just because you have an obligation to give something back to this country that has given our family so much—although you do have that obligation. But because you have an obligation to yourself. Because it is only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you will realize your true potential.

These are the things I want for you—to grow up in a world with no limits on your dreams and no achievements beyond your reach, and to grow into compassionate, committed women who will help build that world. And I want every child to have the same chances to learn and dream and grow and thrive that you girls have. That’s why I’ve taken our family on this great adventure.

I am so proud of both of you. I love you more than you can ever know. And I am grateful every day for your patience, poise, grace, and humor as we prepare to start our new life together in the White House.

Love, Dad

VIDEO: Doing My Project

Cooking is one of my favorite activities beside gardening. My grandmother has inspired me to become a good cooker. She was an excellent cooker. Although she could not read and write (because she didn't go to school when Dutch colonial was still alive in Indonesia, but she could count), she was like a great Chef.

When I was at Elementary School, everyday after school, I could not wait to go home soon and guessed what kind of food that day I would eat. She cooked delicious food everyday. I saw her never stop doing something in the kitchen. She was so proud everytime she could prepare delicious food for her family.

At that time I wondered if I could be like her. Everybody at our neighbourhood loved her cooking. They always invited her to become a special chef in every special event they were holding. I was so proud of her.

My Credentials

Writing Stars
Writing score: 73%
Total Articles: 64

What do you want to compete if you want to be a good writer??? Well, I don't claim that I'm a writer but writing has become a part of my life since I know the blogging world. Sometimes in my mind there are so many things I want to write but I have to face the reality that I have to be wise to manage my time between my family, my daily activities, my work, etc. One thing that I always have a commitment, at least once/week, I have to write something, either at my own blogs, here or there, at Helium, Cross-Written, or Daily Avocado. One of my own Blogs at here, I just update if there are a new book/e-book/other published stuff I'll launch.

Talking about an online media where the best writers can compete is HELIUM. I found this site when I was a newbie in blogging world. I decided to join this site to know how far my ability to write in English and to know how far I could compete with the best writers around the world.

It wasn't so easy in the beginning and I was not a simple person to give up just for trying couple months or several years to reach either rating stars or writing stars. After I wrote 64 articles/poetries there, I should stop to write more and focused to do the leap frog for my articles that might need to rewrite for better quality. I did it step by step every time I had a chance to write and last night I did a leap frog an article and I hoped it could increase my writing scores. What I got this morning?? I really could not wait what happened, this morning I checked it up, wow, I got ONE Writing Star (Yeahhhh!!). I felt my time I had spent already was so worthy.

Now, what's next? As I said before at my last posting, at least 3 writing stars I had to reach.

Well, I just enjoy every writing I'll write without pressure. Whenever I find an interesting topic and have a chance to write, I'll write there.

Happy New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Well, today is January 5th, 2009. What's new in 2009??
There is nothing new for myself, except several goals and more challanging activities I should pursue. These make me more excited.

Yesterday when I went to church, I was very interested with the topic which the sermon gave,
What Got Us Here; Won't Get Us There.

I noted down 2 special things here that I think you might be interested in them:
1. New Possibilities will require COURAGE (Read Hosea 10:12, Isa 43:18-19)
2. New Problems will require CREATIVITY

This Year our goal is to make 1000 mistakes, because if we make 1000 mistakes, we will have 100 successes. Let's focus on the positives

"The intelligent man is always open to new ideas. In fact, he looks for them," Pr 18:15 (LB)
