Ten Practical Ways to Increase Your Abundance (5)

Receiving: I am a good receiver (in all areas of my life)
Sponsored by Dr. Robert Holden, O-Magazine.

Are you a good receiver? Do you drink life in? Do you let people give to you? Can you let the good times roll? When it comes to letting life be really great, what's your threshold? What's your fear?

There are no shortages, only a lack of willingness to receive. Receptivity works on three levels. Level 1 is about being open to what wants to come to you. This openness makes you attractive, in that it helps you to attract great things. Level 2 is about recognizing what is already here. Many of us overlook what is already here because we are poor receivers. Level 3 is about appreciating the natural qualities of our true nature—our secret beauty, our eternal loveliness, our innate wisdom and our human kindness.

Exercise: Take a personal inventory in which you identify at least three ways you limit your own happiness and abundance. Notice how you are depriving yourself of nourishment, inspiration, joy and aliveness. Make a resolution to stop being so mean to yourself. And be willing to let life give to you, so you can give yourself more fully to life. Reflect also on what Dr. Robert Holden's friend, Dr. Chuck Spezzano says: "When the receiver is ready, the gift appears."

Ten Practical Ways to Increase Your Abundance (4)

Money: Having a healthy relationship to money (Sponsored by Dr. Robert Holden, O Magazine)

Rich people seldom feel rich. They do not perceive themselves to be rich. In a Gallup poll, the average person judged that 21 percent of people, approximately one in five, are in the "rich" bracket. And yet not even one-half of 1 percent of people put themselves in that bracket. In other words, only one person in 200 can identify with the phrase "I am a rich person." Most people relate to terms like "rich," "wealth" and "abundance" as something you eventually experience when you finally, one day—you hope—enjoy something more than what you have now.

Rich people often feel poor. "When they are asked how much income they need, richer people always say they need more than poor people," writes Lord Richard Layard, the British economist. In his book Happiness: Lessons from a New Science, Lord Layard collated research on the economics of happiness back to the early 1970s. He writes: "Although real income per head (corrected for price inflation) has nearly doubled, the proportion of people who say they are pretty well satisfied with their financial situation has actually fallen."

Exercise: Money is important in life, but if you are to enjoy a truly healthy relationship with money, you have to be clear about what is even more important than money. The real truth is that you can't buy what you really want. True love is not for sale. Real happiness cannot be bought. Peace of mind is not a commodity. To increase your abundance score immediately, try this great exercise: Make a list of 10 things in your life that are priceless to you and that money cannot buy. This powerful exercise will open your eyes to how rich your life already is.

VIDEO: Signing in the Waldenbooks by Parnell Hall

Good morning all,

Next two days, on Saturday, July 17, you're invited to my first book signing at Baxter's Black Sheep Saloon in Berwyn, PA if you live not far from that place. My book signing starts at 4.30 pm and will end at 5.30 pm. I will give 10% discount for my book and e-book giveaway from my sponsor (Resources for Moms and Kids), it has door prize and o.50 cents of every purchased book will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Some neighbors, friends at work and church told me that they will come to this event. This is not big event so I didn't put any flyers for public but special for family and friends. Everybody is welcome to come to my first book signing. For the next book signings will be special for public and family and friends are invited, too. Please, stay tune for the next info.

I think this gonna be fun. BBSS is very nice place to rest and enjoy your day with delicious food and drink. With a nice bar they have, it makes this place perfect as a saloon.

Talking about having book signing outside bookstore is interesting. Why? Do you know from a research, the result shows around 35 % of Americans buy books from bookstores? This is fantastic number. It means 65% of Americans buy books at online bookstores, retail stores, exhibits, book fair, book signing, etc. I also read another related news from Publisher Weekly yesterday:

"Bookstore sales fell for the second consecutive month in May, with revenue in the month down 2.6%, to $1.09 billion, according to estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau. Bookstore sales for the first five months of 2010 were down slightly, falling 0.4%, to $6.33 billion. Bookstore sales, faced with easy comparisons to a soft early 2009, nonetheless have been weak in 2010 following a relatively strong 2.7% increase in January. Sales for the entire retail segment rose 8.5% in May and 6.8% for the first five months of 2010."

By the way, I also got an interesting video from You Tube. I like this video so much. It gives me a big smile everytime I watch it and a deep thought for me and you as a new author if we are going to do book signing.

What do you think after watching that video? (Please, let me know by writing a comment in this post)

Hmm . . . I think:
1. You should be smart to prepare your book signing. It means you should think other ways what make the people interesting to come to your book signing.
2. Think about other places besides bookstores to do book signing.
3. Marketing, marketing!! Don't forget about this!!!
4. Freebies make your book signing more interesting and can attract other people to come although you have spend more money about this. Remember!! You should give more than you get!!! The people who come to your book signing are your future prospects for yout next published books. So spending more money is good as the investment for your book success.
5. If you're a new author, never ever have book signing event with other famous author!! You will be like a funny guy accompanying him/her by sitting next to him/her meanwhile there is nobody come to you to have your signing on your book!
6. Let your family and friends know about your book signing by sending them invitation cards or email. If you have blog, this will be great to post your events.
7. What's next??? You should come to my book signing and you will see the differences between mine and that video!!!

"One person comes to your book signing is a gold!!! Two persons come to your book signing are golds!!! Three persons come to your book signing are golds!!! Many persons come to your book signing, you will be on the way to be the next big writer!!!" (Fida Abbott)

See you on Saturday at Baxter's Black Sheep Saloon, 660 Lancaster Ave, Berwyn, PA, 19312, Phone: 484-318-7211, at 4.30-5.30 pm.

Ten Practical Ways to Increase Your Abundance (3)

Goals: I know what I want (sponsored by Dr. Robert Holden, O Magazine)

Contrary to what the advertising copy writers tell us, the goal of your life is not to have it all. Nor is it to have everything. As the comedian Steven Wright said, "You can't have everything. Where would you put it?" Your goal is not just to accumulate. You are not a consumer. You are not here on Earth just "to get." If you think only in terms of "getting," you have clearly forgotten who you really are, and you'll always be haunted by a mistaken sense of inner lack.

Most of the people I meet are not broken, they do not need fixing and there is nothing missing in them. My experience is that they don't need more therapy, but they do need more clarity. In particular, they need to get clear about what they really value. Until we know what our real values are, we will not be able to discern between genuine desires and advertising slogans. The Sufi poet Hafiz put it very well when he said:

"Learn to recognize the counterfeit coins
That may buy you just a moment of pleasure,
But then drag you for days
Like a broken man
Behind a farting camel."

Exercise: Reflect on the statement, "I know what I want." How true is this for you? Sit with this until you are at least a little bit clearer than before about what is the real more you want and why. Your newfound clarity will save you so much time, so much energy and so much unnecessary heartache. Notice also that knowing what you want isn't just about "having" and "doing," it's also about "giving" and "being." When you know what you want, you stop wanting more of everything else.(*)

My Appreciation to "Enthusiasm" Giveaway Contest Winners

Last month, in June a winner, Bluedreamer, and runner up winner, Mariuca who won Enthusiasm Giveaway Contest informed me that both of them had received my book. They expressed how happy they were in receiving my gift as they have expressed in their blogs.

Bluedreamer who I used to call him BD, had finished reading my book in just several weeks and he was so excited to want to review my book soon but he would wait in order to participate again in my upcoming contests.

Below I'm going to attach his expression when he was still reading my book:
- After reading all your hardwork for this book (well not yet done with it), I can say the Enthusiasm really deserve this achievements... you deserve this my friend... (June 9, 2009)

- Hi Fida... I really had so much fun reading your novel... I am currently on the 13th chapter... I really learn so much from you ... oh and some Indonesian terms too like ibu, tumpeng, mimpi indah, and selamat tidur... thanks. (June 12, 2010)

- Hi Fida, I am done reading your novel and it is very amazing...
oh and I saw my name at page 233 and Mariuca at page 35
so sweet of you to mention us. Thanks a lot. I will post my review so soon. (June 22, 2010)

And below I attach two nice pictures Mariuca has posted them in her blog
If you're interested to read her whole post about how she felt getting this book, you may visit her post on June 19, 2010, entitled "Reading Enthusiasm".

I feel grateful everytime seeing my autograph below. Thank you, Mariuca. They have been saved in the file as my picture collections for this book.

I tried to point out her expression she wrote in her post:
- Based on my reading so far however, I do have to let you know just how proud I am of Fida! And through her writing, I am allowed a privileged glimpse into the world she shares with her daughter and hubby.
- I now know a little bit more about Fida and her thoughts and visions.
- Enthusiasm is indeed a joy to read and Fida did a tremendous job in getting her voice across!
- Thank you for the book, the friendship and most of all, thank you for the inspiration you have stirred within me. That, I will never forget.

Thank you BD and Mariuca. It was joy reading your post, comments and thought about getting and reading my book.

To all my friends, please, don't forget, this Saturday or Sunday whenever I have time, I'm going to announce my upcoming contests. Please, stay tune! (*)

I Met Director of Local Library

Yesterday I went to the local library in my city with my daughter. I had wonderful time meeting Marsha, a Director of Local Library in my city. Kelly, an administator introduced me after I explained what I needed to know how the local library could suppport their local authors.

I handed my media kit out to her and we talked for a while in her office. She said that I could do book signing there and might to do another event to discuss about my book. How happy I was! I told her probably in August I would do it and she asked me to email her to prepare and set up everything.

As my thanks to her, I am going to donate one copy of my book to the local library she is leading.

Another news I am still waiting from my store manager who is still in his vacation now. He has helped me submitting my media kit to Wal-Mart Home Office. I didn't expect to much for the result. They will accept or not, it doesn't matter because he has already given me permission to do book signing at the store whenever I want to. That's cool, isn't it?

Now I still keep in touch with a friend as a representative of one of Indonesia publsihing companies to discuss about my book right they are going to buy it. They have wide distrubution to many areas in Indonesia from east to west (from Sumatera to Papua). Because of the channels they have, I believe my book will be in a good hand.

So have you heard my last interview at The Authors Show yesterday? I said to my husband I didn't like the result of the voice. It sounds so different. As I know my voice has strong pronounciation and articulation especially I'm from Java but I didn't expect that my voice was so oppostite. It happened probably I talked too close on the phone. The message is good but I just don't like its voice. I wish someday I'm able to show on the television and you will know my real voice.

By the way, I have some responses from friends in Facebook after they heard my interview:

Nancy Dinar: "I'm really impressed. You've delivered a wonderful message."
Maria Coleman: "It's great! Ndak keliatan kalo interviewnya udah 'dirancang' dari jauh hari."
Viviana Andrew: "I wish to see you in the TV version, but it was another author. I wish to see you on TV. Your voice is perfect as a teacher . . . You spoke slowly and clearly."

Thank you for your appreciation. I hope one day I can make it much better. (*)

Ten Practical Ways to Increase Your Abundance (2)

2. Relationship: I feel connected, and not alone. (Sponsored by Dr. Robert Holden, O Magazine)

To feel truly abundant for the rest of your life, do this one thing first: Give up all sense of separateness. Despite how it looks or how you may feel right now, you are not a separate self, you are not an island, and you are not alone. As you let go of thoughts of separateness—described by scientist Albert Einstein as "optical delusions"—your perception changes, and so, too, does your experience of the world. Once you were lost, and now you are found. Grace is at hand. Inspiration is here. All manner of help and support is available to you.

Exercise: If you want more energy, more inspiration, more creativity, more aliveness, more joy, you have to connect. First connect with yourself. Failure to do so will leave you feeling like something is missing in your life. Eventually, you will come to realize that what is missing is you! Next, connect with others. Ask yourself, "Who would I like to spend more time with?" Social studies show that people who invest in a rich "circle of friends" are twice as likely to feel very happy and abundant.

Your abundance score will increase as you extend your sense of connection to include the sun, the stars, the sea and the trees. Too many of us suffer from what author Richard Louv calls "a nature-deficit disorder." Mother Nature offers a perfect holding environment that helps to restore us to our unconditioned selves. Most important of all is our connection with the original energy that created us. In my favorite book, A Course in Miracles, it is written, "A sense of separation from God is the only lack you really need to correct." Amen to that. (*)

Ten Practical Ways to Increase Your Abundance (1)

First of all, Happy Independence Day to all family and friends in US!!!

I don't have special event during this holiday time but I'm sure I will cook special brownies and lunch to celebrate it. Tonight my husband and my little daughter are gonna be wild to have fireworks in back yard and I will be there to enjoy it together.

As a special gift to celebrate this event, I will start to post at this blog about TEN PRACTICAL WAYS TO INCREASE YOUR ABUNDANCE (source: Dr. Robert Holden, O Magazine).

1. Self: I love and accept myself.

First, you should take the abundance test sponsored by Dr. Robert Holden)

Your self-acceptance score sets your "personal allowance" for how much happiness, success and love is possible and how much is "too good to be true." Your allowance determines how much good fortune you can identify with before you start telling yourself "good things like this don't happen to people like me." As your self-acceptance score increases, the more good fortune you will allow yourself to notice, accept and enjoy.

When your self-acceptance score is low, you tend to forget that abundance is natural, and you start to believe that good fortune has to be deserved, earned and paid for. When good things happen to you, you feel guilty, anxious and afraid, because deep down you believe something deeply illegal or blasphemous has happened. You quickly set about "paying the bill" by making sacrifices, working harder, apologizing everywhere, pushing away love, rejecting the joy and sabotaging the success. Thus, for as long as you do not accept yourself, you will always want more than you let yourself have.

Exercise: Self-acceptance feels so good that you should try it at least once in your life! At the deepest level, self-acceptance is the awareness that you are what you seek. The love you hope to find in the world is what you are made of, and the happiness you are searching for is your true nature. Today, be willing to accept the idea that love is here because you are here, and happiness is here because you are here, and hope is here because you are here. Affirm to yourself, "I am what I seek."

That's true. I believe nobody is perfect including me but I never see myself in negative perspective. I accept myself as who and what I am as a woman, a wife and a mother. I enjoy my life everyday even when I was facing the difficult time and it seemed so hard to have it. When I was in that moment, one thing I believed I had HIM. HE would take care of me and watched over me and never let me down. HE is my strength.

As I mention above that I really enjoy my life, I said the truth. Several years ago I ever got an email from my friend to fill the answers of many questions. One of them asking if I was bored, what I would do. I answered that I never get bored at all in my life. My life is so very colorful and I have so many things to do and it always changes everyday. I should thank to my father who had taught me about a life and now it is the time I should teach to my children what life is about.

As I mention above that I truly enjoy my life because I have so many interests to enjoy. I try to write down one by one below and express myself. This makes me feeling good to share good things to you although I know perhaps it will be the longest post I ever wrote.

Enjoy and I hope you're not bored to read this special post!!!

I like singing. If I may be honest, singing is my first hobby I have. I ever joined with six Voval Groups and several choirs in Indonesia before I moved to US. I had started since I was 15 years old and ended when I moved here in 2002 (17 years).

I like dancing but most family and friends don't know that I'm very good in it. Although I never took special traditional dancing class but I ever got Java dancing class in Elementary School and Junior High School. You won't believe how my hands, fingers and body moved.

I like cooking. My grandmom has inspired to be a good cook. My cookbooks, Amerindo Kitchen in Series are dedicated to her.

I like writing. I've noticed that I have talent in writing since I had written my first teenager short story entitled Kidung Kasih Untuk Lintang (Love Song for Lintang) and it was published as a main short story at school magazine. At that time I was 13 years old.

I like sport. When I was 12-13 years old, I was famous in my grandmom neighbors as a top young girl roller skater. My father gave a gift, a pair of roller skater when he came back from Netherlands and it was so awesome. In one day in practicing, I had been able to play with it. Many teenagers in that area knew me well but I didn't know them mostly. Now I'm smiling when writing this-it reminds me when I was in that time.

I like reading. My friends in Senior High School ever asked me why I always brought a book when we spent time together to do the things. I answered shortly that I liked reading. I read many magazines and novels when I was in Senior High School. Now I have written a novel, Enthusiasm, and hope all my readers will enjoy reading it and get inspired by my own true story.

I like being stylist. Being stylist doesn't mean I have to spend a lot of money. I don't like to spend a lot of money for the things that aren't important. Being stylist means that I have to be smart to present how I look like without spending a lot of money . . . here I am . . . most friends think I am still in 20s, ha, ha . . .!!!

I like shopping and giving. Well, I think most women like these but honestly, I don't have much money to shop for the top brand names and I don't like either. I shop because I need, I shop because I like on sale stuff with good quality, ha, ha . . .!!! And giving makes me feel good as a person who cares to others and has attention to family and friends. With giving, I feel my life is worthy for other people.

I like taking care of myself. I give attention for myself from hair to toes. Looking good will make my family and friends happy to have me around them.

I like cleaning. All household cleanings I ever do. When I lived at my grandmom house, I used to do big cleaning and arrange a new style for livingroom and my own bedroom at least twice a year.

I like spending time with my friends to share everything with a cup of tea or simple snacks or have lunch or dinner together, especially if I have a chance to cook.

I like gardening, especially when my husband and my little daughter get involved in it. This summer we will have grapes harvest from our back yard garden that I planted it 3 years ago.

I like having fun outside with my family, especially when my husband cooks BBQ for us.

I like travelling with my family but since we have very tight budget for this, I just have one special wish--I wanna bring my family to visit Indonesia someday soon.

I like having goal in my life. My life is challenging and I have enjoyed living in it. Becaue of it, my life never bored, my life is always colorful and has hopes because I have HIM. HE is MY HOPE!!!

Before I end this post, I enclose the result of my abundance test:
I experience an inner shift in which I realize that true abundance is much more about "being" than it is about "having," "going," "doing" and "getting." Here, I discover to my great delight that my unconditioned self is made of everything I am trying to find in the world. Joy is my spiritual DNA, love is my original energy and my true nature is already free. As I manifest more of my true nature, I naturally experience a life that is rich in every way. (*)
