Indonesia won Democracy Video Challenge

As I believe Indonesia has many smart, creative, and talented young people in many areas. They won many international competitons including in science and arts. Now I must be proud of Adhyatmika who has won Democracy Video Challenge.

Who is Adhyatmika? He was born in Jakarta, Adhyatmika is a graduate of the Puttnam School of Film, Lasalle College of The Arts in Singapore. He developed a passion for filmmaking while still in high school and his work has since been featured at international film festivals.

He sees film as a medium that transcends geography, race and age. Intrigued by the Democracy Video Challenge topic, he said democracy is a subjective term that is not easily defined. He “played around” with the idea and “created a rather surreal satirical comedy about democratic life in Indonesia. "Democracy is not a thing,” he said, “it’s a process.”

As a first winner, he with other five other winners will be invited to Washington D.C., Hollywood dan New York City in September.

Below I attach Press Release of 2010 winners.

Congratulations to Adyatmika!!! You rock, man!!!

Reunion Photos & Other Interesting News

Last night I had prepared what I was going to do for this morning fulfilling my progress but it was interrupted by many exciting emails and photos from friends in Indonesia. Yesterday at the same day, there were two reunions which were being held by friends in Junior High School and University (Agriculture Faculty).

I almost had tears in my eyes seeing the pictures. It was really emotional morning and brought me when I was being with them. I wished I would be in those events.

By the way, although I was so in my emotional feeling, this morning I got two interesting news about my books. First news came from Hollywood Book Festival, confirming me that they have received my book already and offering me for detail critique of my work. I'm interested to take that offer to advance my writing skill. They also asked me preparing a trip to attend their annual awards ceremony at Roosevelt Hotel, a home of the first Academy Awards celebration. I would be so excited--of course if I would win as a grand prize winner or at least my book would be chosen as their finalists.

Another news came from my new friend in Indonesia who works at a publishing company. She and her boss have discussed about my book and interested to publish my book in Indonesia. WOW!!! I asked her to send a proposal before I make a decision.

I would keep updating those news here so please, keep coming and reading my upcoming news here.

In the end of my short post this morning, I attach some reunion pictures I got from my friends via FB.

Enjoy them and have a great day!

My profile and my front book cover were being featured on the huge slide. Thanks, friends for this chance. It gave me tears when seeing this--really.

My book was being given to school and/or a door prize winner. (I'm still waiting their news what this teacher/ friend's name is)

They are my teachers. They looked very old now. Imagine 25 years ago they were teaching us. Seeing their faces on this photo, I think I'm not able to recognize them.

Look, how wild they were!!! (he, he ...) Probably they forgot they have been in 40's already, ha, ha...!!!! I'm so proud of their hard work to make this event so memorable and fun. Some friends came from another Asian country--Ruy from Thailand--and another Indonesia island--Ani, one of my best friends from Lombok island.

I'm amazed how hard they worked. A picture above, it shows us when they were working behind the stage. On the left picture, it shows us when they were preparing at the entrance door.

Thank you to all my friends who had made this event come true. BRAVO!!!

And this is the last photo from my Agriculture Faculty. Several of them were the members of a group where I used to join in their many activities. I miss them a lot. We had a lot of fun at that time when spending the time in our Agronomy class.

Introducing OXIS

Good Day!

This morning when I checked my email, I got an invitation from an international company named OXIS. They are interested to invite me writing about their company and products in this blog. I'm honored to get a trust of this invitation from a big and international company and curious to know more about what their company is offering. Honestly, I've just heard OXIS this morning for the first time and I loved to know more of the new things about them; who they are, what their products are, etc. I went to their website, read and learned a lot about this company. Below I will write what I've read and been interested to introduce them proudly.

Advancing Oxidative Stress Technology OXIS International, Inc (OTCBB: OXIS) is the premier provider for the potent antioxidant, Ergothioneine and through their patented synthetic manufacturing process remains the only significant commercial source of pure I-ergothioneine worldwide.

OXIS was founded in 1966 and for many years focused on diagnostics while developing some of its unique patented compounds and acquiring significant expertise in the field of oxidative stress including ERGO. It is engaged in the research, development and sale of products that counteract the harmful effects of “oxidative stress.” Oxidative stress refers to the situations in which the body’s antioxidant and other defensive abilities to combat free radicals (a.k.a highly reactive species of oxygen and nitrogen) are overwhelmed and one’s normal healthy balance is either lost or severely compromised.

OXIS is developing and plans to sell Nutraceutical and Cosmecuetical products featuring natural ingredients believed to have beneficial effects on human health. OXIS’ consumer products strategy addresses very important health concerns including aging and age-related disorders that are increasing with trends in US demographics. These concerns include brain health, immunity against diseases, anti-aging/skin health, inflammation, detoxification, and blood sugar regulation.

Their products include therapeutic nutraceutical products, cosmeceutical products and proprietary formulations and clinical products that are developed internally and/or out-licensed t
o biotech and pharmaceutical companies as drug candidates.

Talking about ERGO, it is a new word for me, so I kept reading what it is about.

ERGO (Ergothioneine--the super anti-oxidant) is naturally occurring, water soluble, amino acid multifaceted antioxidant produced by microbes in the soil and most commonly found in (but not produced by) various species of mushrooms and grapes, meats and dairy products. However, it is not commercially practical to extract ERGO from these natural sources and it essentially impossible to ingest a diet that provides enough ERGO to take full advantage of its potential health benefits. Humans and most animals typically have low levels of ERGO since the amount of ERGO in the diet is relatively small.

Some of the potential benefits of ERGO include its ability to:

* Conserve and maintain the levels of other antioxidants such as Vitamin E, Vitamin C and glutathione;
* Increase respiration and the oxidation of fat (possibly contributing to increased energy and exercise capacity);
* Protect mitochondria from damage (this is important because potentially damaging reactive oxygen species are generated when oxygen is normally metabolized in mitochondria;
* Reduce the damaging effects of environmental ultraviolet radiation (likely to be important in protecting the eyes against cataract producing oxidative injury);
* Neutralize increased oxidative stress by providing an ROS (reactive oxygen species) and RNS (reactive nitrogen species) scavenging capacity, a property that protects key molecules in the body; and,
* Protect against the effects of neurotoxins that are believed to have a casual role in the development and progression of cognitive decline.

This is the part that took most attention from me, therapeutic compounds and clinical products. They are actual remedies that can be used to treat diseases. Oxis has several therapeutic compounds that are available to be licensed including anti-inflammatory and several therapeutic antioxidant mimics with potential applications in the treatment of neurodegenerative (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s), cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and other conditions.

OXIS is completing a strategic and timely transformation towards its goal of becoming a leading nutraceutiecal, cosmecuetical and therapeutics company and now focusing its business on its rich science background and its related 12 key patents and 7 patent pending applications and other new research.

During the past twelve months, OXIS has made significant strides towards its new objectives including divesting all of it diagnostics businesses to strategically focus the business on neutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals and therapeutic compounds; Building a new strong team of Executive Management, Board of Directors, and Scientific Advisory Board; Raising new capital to fund its new strategy; and Increasing the equity value and liquidity of its common/penny stock and regaining Bulletin Board trading status.

If you're the investors and others interested in learning more about OXIS are invited to review the following additional information such as Investor Presentation, Whistleblower Policy, Code of Ethics, and Investor Presentation.

For additional technical information on their therapeutic compounds and/or to discuss licensing opportunities, you should contact them via email or send them a letter via mail at 468 N. Camden Dr., 2nd Floor Beverly Hills CA 90210 USA or you may call them at (310) 860-5184.

NOVEL ENTHUSIASM PARTICIPATES IN A SCHOOL REUNION

It has been 25 years already since we haven't met each other after graduation in Junior High School. Next week they will have reunion at Nur Pacific Restaurant, Surabaya--a restaurant where I had my farewell party eight years ago. Many teachers, friends and their families will come.

I-myself- won't come but my book, Enthusiasm, will represent me in that event. I have sent a month ago two copies of my book. One is for doorprize and one is for my donation for their school library. I'm so happy and excited that I am able to give a special gift to my ex-school. I cannot wait what the teachers will say after they read it and becomes a school treasure.

As they have worked so hard, they have already collected a lot of funds as you can see a picture above, reported Rp 41,000,000.00 has been collected and they still need more around Rp 407,501.00. I am sure they will be able to collect more funds before the date of the event.

There are three photographs I copied from their photo collections at FB and attached them below so you can see the results of their good and hard works. Two photos on the left show you the kind of the stage they will use. A photo on the right shows you when they gathered together to discuss this event.

Good luck, friends! I will wait for VCD of the event and cannot wait to watch it from the beginning till the end.

NOVEL ENTHUSIASM: Summer Programs

Summer for many people are the time to get more relax and do vacation but not for me this year. This afternoon my daughter went home earlier from school and today is her last day of her school. Besides bringing her Kindergarten certificate, she brought a final report from her teacher--which is excellent--and a bunch of summer homeworks, including reading list, educational activities, and math. First I was thinking, I had to clean her bedroom and create a comfortable room for her to learn and do her summer activities.

My gardening activities has decreased 50% since I'm handling my book marketing which needs a lot of attention to do but I enjoy every single of it and I've learned so much and met many new people. Although it decreases 50%, this year I must be happier because my green-seedless grape plant is fruiting a lot and my another flower plant is blooming after I planted it 4 years ago. What a mircale!! I thought it would never have the flowers but I'm wrong. Now, I've learned a lot about many plants in 4 seasons country.

For my marketing activities, yesterday I have finished creating my online media/press kit by using flash website which is very new for me. I began several months ago every time I had a chance to work on it and tried to adjust using many tools to apply with. Luckily, with my full patience to learn and practice, it's finally done and you can see now everytime you visit this blog. As long as promoting Enthusiasm is the main of my book marketing, I would attach that online media/press kit here or until I change my mind. Let me know what do you think about my new stuff. I will keep updating this flash website everytime I have something new to be added there so please, keep visiting there anytime you have a spare time.

Last week I got an email announcing my on air interview. The schedule changes. It would be broadcasted on Thursday, July 6, 2010 for 24 hours and after that, it will be still there for all visitors who are interested to listen it.

Last week my name has been appeared at Xlibris Author's News about the award I got from NABE. Click this picture below to read the detail info.

In the end of this news I would like to spread the news from one of my favorite artists, Emila Yusof. Right now she is struggling in using internet because her PC is going to die soon. She is able to go online everytime she uses her husband's notebook. Because of so expensive the price of a PC, right now she is collecting the fund from online friends, either to support her via donation or purchasing her creations. Visit her blog and her little shop if you're interested to see the details of her amazing art works. This news is as a help in spreading the words. Good luck, Emila!

Thank you so much for spending your time to read this post.

Have a great and nice summer.
