Being Featured at Bluedreamer's Top 5

Yesterday morning I got an info from BD that I have been featured at his blog on his recent post titled Interesting Blog of the Month, May 2010.

Thank you, BD for your kindness and interest to interview me and feature me at your blog. I am honored to have such huge support from one of my special fellow bloggers. For being featured at his blog, I have received an award from him, Excellent Site Bluedreamer's Top 5 Award. It will be treasured in this blog and special memorabilia in blogging.

If you would like to see his interesting blog that I adore because of how creative he is in presenting his blog, you may visit there by clicking his picture on the left.

And if you are interested to read the whole interview he has been presenting, you may visit there by clicking my picture on the left.

Below I also forward his interview with me:

BD: What is your blog about?
FA: My blog at www.fidaabbott.blogspot.com is my personal blog, a cyber place where I can share everything in my life.

BD: When and how did you started blogging?
FA: I started blogging on February 10, 2006

BD: I know that aside from being an active blogger, you are also a mom and a professional writer, how do you manage your time, my friend?
FA: I blog whenever I want to share something and have spare time. I write for my writing projects most of the time when my husband and my daughter were not in home--he is going to work and she is going to school—or when they were sleeping early in the morning.

BD: I am so happy that I won the Enthusiasm Giveaway Contest, I am so excited to read your book... Can you tell us something about "Enthusiasm?"
FA: ENTHUSIASM is an inspiring novel that will take readers to my own true story. I narrate the journey of my life and share how enthusiasm played a vital role in pursuing my dream in the writing world—with English as my second language—in my new country, USA. In this novel, I exemplify my experiences, my family and relationship, my inspirations, and my passage towards the remarkable goals. This novel is a reflection of my own life, how I faced obstacles, how I handled life, how I inspired and touched other people’s lives through my works, and how I achieved the amazing successes of my life and endeavors—a perfect blend of life’s spices.
Through Enthusiasm, readers will be affected by my wonderful story. Filled with hope and inspiration, strength and enthusiasm, this novel will draw out the best within its readers’ hearts and minds.

BD: What inspires you to write it?
FA: My strong enthusiastic to write my first novel and my first own true story in English had inspired me to write this novel, so this novel is the story about its self.

BD: Are you going to write new novels in the near future?
FA: Yes, I am writing now my second novel, it will be a true romance story.

BD: Back to your blog, just wanna ask, among all your great post entries, what is your most favorite?
FA: This is difficult question but I’ll try to answer it. My favorite entries are everything about my family and my achievements. The most favorite of them, I think is about my first published novel.

BD: Thanks for your time Fida, can you share us some precious tips you can share to newbies and fellow bloggers on blogging?
FA: When you blog, be creative and don’t post the boring entries. Sometimes the content is interesting but the bloggers cannot present to make them interesting to read. Don’t post entries too long. If it is, you should separate it by several entries because most of the bloggers don’t have a lot of time to read a long entry/post.
When you’re blogging or blog walking, don’t spam to other bloggers’ blogs with spam comments. This will show you that you’re a respectful and a professional blogger or not. Give the respectful comments. If you don’t agree with their thought, express it with a good manner in your writing.
But most of them, make blogging is a fun activity, especially to make friends over the internet or even to make a little bit money if you like. This will help you become a happy blogger or person.

BD: Thanks Fida, it's an honor to feature you in my blog.. by the way please also share how and where they can buy your books
FA: My book, Enthusiasm is available in many formats, e-book in e-pub version, Kindle, Nook, Sony reader, paperback and hardback. You can find them at: Xlibris, Amazon, Barnesandnoble, Alibris, ebookstore sony or any bookstores in USA. You also can buy my autographed book directly from me. To purchase it, please, fill the contact form out at http://www.abbottsbooks.com/ and then I will respond it with the details of how you purchase it.

A Photo at BEA 2010 from PW Daily

Much to Do in Only Two Days

Attendees waited to get in to the exhibit hall yesterday, as BookExpo America 2010 got underway.

That photo I got from PW daily e-newsletter yesterday. Since Book Expo Amercia 2010 opened on May 25-27, 2010, they sent the report everyday. One of their news caught my eyes to read was "BookExpo America 2010: Two Days Not Enough for Some Overseas Visitors" written by Liz Thomson. You can read it here.

So, what I hope for my book Enthusiasm that was being displayed there among other thousands of books from around the world? I will see then . . .

Introducing A Book: God's Army

Dear All,

This time I am proudly announcing a new released book entitled God's Army by author Sherrell Prefontaine from Massachusetts, USA.

I met her online through writing community forum last year. We both were working on our writing projects. I was writing "Enthusiasm" and she was writing "God's Army".

We gave reviews each other for our works at that forum and I loved the story she wrote so I had given her reviews for the whole chapters of this book together with other members there.

As I knew from her new website, she is a manager of a large real estate company. This year, she celebrates twenty-six years in the real estate business. She has a degree in Business Management and Psychology. Writing has been her passion and a dream since she was a teenager. God’s Army is her first novel to be published, fitting with a God-first life!

What is its story about? This book is very interesting and brings wonderful messages. A little ant discovers faith and the many miracles of God through his day-to-day experiences in God’s Army, an inspiring tale about belief and devotion to a being far more powerful than any of us.

This book is great for all ages from youths to adults and elders. If you're interested, visit her website at God's Army 2010 and get her book soon!

Happy Reading!!!

I have been interviewed by Don McCauley from The Authors Show

What a great day!! I was so excited to have an interview by Don McCauley this morning at 11.30 A.M. from The Authors Show. He said that I did a great job in my interview and it made me so happy and can not wait to listen my own voice. Before he started, he asked me if I ever showed up in the radio before. I answered him that I never got any interview before from any radio but I ever took broadcasting courses and have good ability in speaking so I asked him not to worry about it. One thing that might make me a little bit nervous is because I used English as my second language in his interview. That was all.

And now, who is Don McCauley?

Don McCauley is a marketing and publicity consultant with 30 years of experience. He is the facilitator of the Free Publicity Focus Group and the co-moderator of Book Marketing "The Authors Marketing Powerhouse". During his corporate years, he developed and implemented marketing campaigns involving newspaper, radio, tv, magazines, trade shows and direct mail. He also previously served as owner and editor of two successful regional magazines. His experience in media gives
him an intimate understanding and a unique perspective on the challenges facing authors in marketing their work.

Ok, guys, see you in the next several weeks with this interesting news of my web radio interview. Don will send an email to me several days before my interview shows up on air. And who are the winners that Don has used their questions already? I will post the names of the winners at the same time when I post my on air interview.

See you soon!

Interviewed by Resources for Moms and Kids

“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

This quote captured Viviana Widjaja's attention--she is an entrepreneur who has some online businesses in Malaysia--when she read this blog. She had an opportunity to do the e-mail interview with me.

Let’s find out from the interview why I choose a career as a published author, how enthusiasm can play an important role in my life, and what readers can learn from my story.

Below is her eleven questions in her interview with me. You can read it in Indonesian version at this link that was published at Kabarindonesia.com last month.

Q: What made you pursue a career as a published author?
A: Well, I think before I answer that question, I should better explain why I write. I like writing. It is not for making money but I want to show up my thought through writing. That is why most of my writings in some online media do not make money. I like sharing my thought and it comes purely from my heart. Knowing that I have “something” in my writing skill, I believe with combining the touch and my creativity, I can make more than just writing in some online media. That is writing a book. I started from the simple one. It was an eBook for children. I gave its title: What Prayers Does Mommy Teach Me? Several months later, it continued with another eBook. It was a Poem Anthology, titled Dancing in My World, and then it continued with cooking book, titled First Book of Amerindo Kitchen in Series. From three creations I had done, I was sure I could do more than those. Writing Novel was the next step. So now, I would answer your question. Honestly, being a published author for me is a pleasure and dream more than pursuing it as a career. I feel satisfied every time I have done with my new creativity and I would love to bring them to the world and it is not only hiding in my flash disc. Also I believe many people think that career is identical with making money. I didn’t make much money from my two e-books and a cookbook before because I focused to donate some of the revenue to support Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Cancer Research and Unreached Children Program.

Q: Do you have mission in your writing?
A: Yes, I have. Through my writings, my readers can take learning for every story I have written and I hope it can motivate them and give an inspiration in their life. Also for every single of purchased book, I will donate some revenue/royalty to be used for my other books/e-books’ marketing purposes to support Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Cancer Research Program and Unreached Children Program.

Q: Why do you choose them?
A: I have the reasons why I choose them. First, I would like to show my deep support and love to my son who is struggling in having Cystic Fibrosis, one of the killer diseases in USA, especially for the children. Through my small donation, I believe every small amount will help CF foundation to keep running their research of this disease and will help many children in the world who have this disease, including my son to live longer. Second, I have family and friends or my friends’ family who ever had cancer and even some of them passed away. Most of them are women. I believe cancer is the scariest disease for women, including me. I would be very happy to show my support through my small action in Cancer Research Program. Third, I love children. I ever gave my free private course to two children from two very poor families in Indonesia. I think now they have been as the young men already. From there my heart had been touched deeper always to find a way even small thing to support the poor children. I hope from Unreached Children Program, my small donation will always help to establish their activities.

Q: How hard is it to be a published author?
A: To be a published author is not an easy thing, especially for me, as you know English is my second language. I must have passion and discipline to realize it. It means there are many challenges to face them.

Q: Do you think that marketing efforts from the publisher play a vital role to the success of your book?
A: Publisher and authors have to work together to market the books to get maximum results.

Q: About your latest novel book and e-book Enthusiasm, Could you brief the story inside your book?
A: I narrate the journey of my life and share how enthusiasm played a vital role in pursuing my dream in the writing world—with English as my second language—in my new country, USA. Here, I exemplify my experiences, my family and relationships, my inspirations, and my passage towards my remarkable goals. This novel is a reflection of my own life, how I faced obstacles, how I handled life, how I inspired and touched other people’s lives through my works, and how I achieved the amazing successes of my life and endeavors—a perfect blend of life’s spices. Through my novel, readers will be affected by my wonderful story. Filled with hope and inspiration, strength and enthusiasm, this novel will draw out the best within its readers’ hearts and minds.

Q: What kind of author do you want to be in the future, a best writing author or a best selling author?
A: I always have desire to inspire my readers. What I want to be is becoming an inspiring author. If I have to choose which one of those choices for my future--a best writing author or a best selling author--I will let my readers to choose.

Q: What was the most life changing experience you wrote in your book, Enthusiasm?
A: The answer is my writing life. When I wrote my two e-books and cookbook before are different with this one, Enthusiasm. I spent a lot of my time totally to write this book, page-by-page, chapter by chapter and I could feel the real person becoming as a writer. I really didn't know why I was so enthusiastic in writing this book. Sometimes I spent several hours but I just only wrote not more than two pages. I did more in reading and searching to complete my story. This effort needed my patience, and as its title itself I had written this Enthusiasm as I had been so enthusiastic in writing it. I could feel it and it was as I had written it in my story. So actually, this novel is a story about itself.

Q: What plan do you have in mind after writing Enthusiasm? What are they?
A: I have prepared to write my second and third novel. I haven’t written them yet but the themes and stories have been in my mind. The second novel will be a true romance story and the third novel will be as the next Enthusiasm Saga. I’m also planning to write non fiction book in Indonesian in the next upcoming years.

Q: Could you give some advices for women who aspire to take up writing as their career path?
A: If you want to take up writing as your career path or if I may mention as a real writer, don’t ever think that you just want to write because it will give you much money. Well, I don’t say that you may not make money from writing but don’t put it in the top of your list as a career if you just want to be a writer because you will make much money. Remember, there are many competitions around you, regionally, nationally or even internationally. Becoming a great writer will take long path or journey and it is not easy. You have to make serious effort to make it happen. Writing also is a process and passion. You cannot become a real writer in just one or several years. It can be at least five or ten years from the time you wanted to start to write. Do you think you still want to be a writer as your career?

Q: What the messages do you convey to your readers especially women and moms so they can learn and benefit from your book?
A: Whoever you are, a single Mom or Mom with a child or several children, or even a single woman, no matter what and how you do, if you have a dream or goal in your life, realize it with the great effort and enthusiasm. However, if you even don’t know the end of the result--it will be realized or not--at least you have tried and let God do the rest. Through this way, you will make yourself happy and you won’t be sad or disappointed if there is nothing come up, even small. Through reading Enthusiasm, you will learn a process of enthusiasm itself. It is not a tip but a real story of its author.

Thank you for your time to answer my questions. It is honored to have a very nice interview with you. I look forward to read your novel soon. This book will be a memorabilia of you and our friendship. You are poetic and I'm not. But we have something in common. We're woman and mom. I will learn your positive energy and your kind heart from your book.
You're very welcome, Viviana. I'm impressed and feel honored to have a such supported friend in the blogosphere who is interested to have an interview with me regarding my first published novel.

The Winner of "Enthusiasm" Giveaway Contest

Dear All,

I have been so busy in managing my time but thanks God I have done one by one what I need to do as a Mom, a wife, an author who has just launched a new book, and as a responsible person in handling several online activities.

I have three great news:

First, I have received my award certificate and award stickers from NABE (North American Bookdealer Exchange). Now, I am more confident to promote my book (Thanks God).

Second, I got a permission to do book signing at Baxter's Black Sheep Saloon in Berwyn, Pennsylvania on any Saturday as long as there is no party. I am so excited. I am planning to have that event in summer around early to mid of July. So please, stay tune for this upcoming news. I have to discuss this plan with co-owner and General Manager, Jessica Keough. This event can be happened because of great help and support from Ruth Abbott. She is one of my heroes in helping my book marketing run well.

Third, this morning I got a responding email from Don McCauley--Host the Authors Show Radio to confirm that he has received all the information from me that he needs for his interview. We both has made an appointment that the interview will be made next week on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 11.30 A.M. It won't be directly on air but will be recorded and then he will bring it to the studio for editing. He will send me an information via email about the schedule of the interview will be online. I am so excited.

Now, as the main topic of this post, I would like to announce proudly the winner of "Enthusiasm" Giveaway Contest. There are two finalists has been chosen and now I have to choose just one person between them.

It is enough difficult to choose one of them. Every finalist has their own pluses in presenting their entries so I have to be very careful in choosing them and be wise to give the prize for the runner up winner. So this is what I have decided:

For the winner will get a free "Enthusiasm" paperback copy with my autograph and a beautiful bookmark. I will send it free with no cost for shipping and handling.

For the runner up winner will get a free "Enthusiasm" paperback copy with my autograph and a beautiful bookmark. One thing you have to do is you just send a payment for shipping and handling (airmail) via your paypal account.

For the winner and the runner up winner, please confirm your complete name and address via Facebook or leave me a message by filling the online contact form at http://www.abbottsbooks.com/

Below are the things I most consider their entries:

Bluedreamer (Cavite-Philippines), I've noticed these sentences that took my atention: He tried to look for the definition of "Enthusiasm" from several online sources. Here, what he wrote: Enthusiasm and its meaning are still, somehow, confusing to me but as what they said, you’ll never know a thing unless you experience it. Other sentences that took my attention, he wrote: I really want to have a copy of this book. This book will help me to get to know more about Fida and her journey in life and also to find out how enthusiasm help her to achieve her dream. According to her site at FidaAbbott.com, mentions this book is filled with hope and inspiration, strength and enthusiasm. It will draw out the best within your heart and mind. Now I am getting more excited!

Besides those sentences, I've noticed since in the beginning he has been already very excited and enthusiastic waiting for this contest. Though it was through blogosphere, I still could feel it his enthusiasm.

Mariuca (Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia), She is always perfect in presenting her post especially for the contest entry. With nice paragraphs and nice words of how she expresses her feeling to get my book, I feel honored. Several sentences that took my atention are "As her blog friend and reader, I knew she was working on her first novel via her blog writings and followed the process she went through in getting "Enthusiasm" out. And I'd love to receive an autographed copy from her of course! It thrills me when someone I love achieves something scent-sational. For Fida to have her very own story published and read worldwide is truly the best form of compliment any writer could receive. And I hope "Enthusiasm", as one of her greatest writing achievements; will help inspire me to continue believing in and pursuing my own dreams too."

So, who is the winner? To find out who he/she is, please visit www.abbottsbooks.com

Good luck for the winner and runner up winner!! Don't forget both of you still have a chance to participate in the next upcoming contest!! And remember as the winner and runner up winner, I expect both of you to write a review of my book.

MY Mothers Day Poem: To My Mom in Heaven

To my Mom in heaven,

Mom, I have something to tell you
three words I never say to you
three words that stay so long in my heart
"I love you"

Mom, I need to tell this to you
something that I always dream about
something that I need to do
"I want to hug you"

Mom, I want to tell this to you
about my expression
about my appreciation
"Thank you for bringing me to this world"

Let them blow in the air
bring them to you
keep them in your soul

From your daughter on the earth

Enthusiasm will be in the Web Radio Show

This morning I am so excited getting an email from Don McCauley from Authors Show. He accepts me to be interviewed by him in his web radio show. He has sent some materials I need to fill them out and send them to him soon. Before I send some information regarding my published novel, Enthusiasm, I would love to hear from you as my supported friends. What the questions do you want me to answer in his radio show. Please, be free to give me maximum 2 questions by writting them in the comments section of this post or you may send it here at the right comment box of my whohub link. If I use your question/s, I will send a beautiful Enthusiasm postcard to your home. Imagine that you will collect a beautiful postcard and USA stamp!

Well, if I'm not far from their studio, I would love to be interviewed by their Web Television Show. Well, probably the local TV studio will accept me one day. Wish me luck!!

OK, guys, I'm so excited and will wait for your response. On Monday morning I will start to select the entered questions and I will close the opportunity by Monday morning (May 10, 2010) at 9 AM for US eastern time (Monday night around 9-10 PM for Asia time).

Good Luck and thank you for your time to read this post and respond it!!!
